Watch my new web-series: ANDREW 12-SIDED DICE CLAY
My long-awaited web-series has finally launched. You can watch the videos HERE.
Andrew 12-Sided Dice Clay is the nerd, dirty bad-boy of the comic book shop. His routines are obscene, obscure and often observational.
But don't take my word for it -- JUST WATCH!

Andrew 12-Sided Dice Clay: a new video project by Kevin Maher
I used to make short comedy videos all the time.
But all that's about to change. If you can help me.
* * *
I was invited to NY Comic Con to speak at a panel on Geek Humor.
Rather than just talk, I made a short-video about the ultimate geek comic: ANDREW 12-SIDED DICE CLAY.
The 3-minute trailer played beautifully, the audience loved it.
Now I want to make a web-series.
But I can't do it without YOUR help. No corporate entity wants to align its product with a greaser telling filthy Star Wars jokes. I need grassroots support.
I need people like you (specifically YOU) to get involved.
Pledge what you can to my kickstarter campaign
If I don't reach my fundraising goal, you won't be charged anything. And if I do reach my goal, your contribution will be funding my dream project. And you'll get a number of perks and kick-backs, depending on the amount you pledge. (Click here to see what you'll receive.)
So far over 300 people have re-posted the trailer on Facebook. But a *like* is not the same as a contribution. At the current fundraising rate, I will not reach my goal.
Please repost this page, re-tweet it, or just email it to a friend, and encourage your friends to support this campaign. (It's easy, just click here, it takes 2 minutes)
Please take part in this one-of-a-kind comedy web-show.
thanks so much.
Love,
Kevin

More about the project:
The series would star comedian Mark Douglas (a YouTube Sensation from the KEY OF AWESOME series) Mark is one of the funniest guys I know. He's also no stranger to comedy videos, his song parodies are hugely successful, his Kei$ha video was the 6th most watched video on YouTube last year. For years, Mark and I had worked together on Giant Tuesday Night of Amazing Inventions and Also There is a Game.
DP Jeremy Carr has been working with me for years on projects like Comedy Central's Old People News, Puppet Rodeo, and AMC's The Sci Fi Department. He's just wrapping up production of his feature film, LUCID. I'm lucky to have Jeremy involved.
Editor Eric Hendricks is another one of my go-to guys, having worked with me on Puppet Rodeo, Old People News and The Sci Fi Department. He's edited TV shows and is cutting a documentary now, but he's got excellent comedic chops. Eric's one of my favorite people to work with.
The web-series will follow the adventures of Andrew 12-Sided Dice Man, as he butts heads with rival comedians, struggles to find success, alientes his fan-base, and attempts to find lucrative TV gigs. And we'll even see a focus group watch his routine.
I hope you'll help me with this project. I have a hard time asking for help, so this is good practice.
But seriously, pledge here. Thanks!

Two killer jokes

| Not Jeremy |
I scribbled a few bad jokes, some were really bad, others weren't bad enough.
Even though he needed a quick exchange, I penned this narrative joke, which is liking something out of the Blanche Knott books I would sneakily read as a kid:
SERIAL KILLER JOKE #1 (of 2)
Charles Manson, Jack the Ripper and Jeffrey Dahmer all walk into a bar.
The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve serial killers."
Manson says, "But I'm not a serial killer. I just had a devoted cult who killed on my behalf."
The bartender says "okay," and gives him a beer.
Jack the Ripper says, "But I'm not a serial killer. I was just a scapegoat for several murders committed by the Royal Family."
The bartender says "okay," and gives him a beer.
Jeffrey Dahmer says "I'm not here for a drink. I just want to find a man to seduce, murder and eat."

SERIAL KILLER JOKE #2 (of 2)
I had written several more jokes, and I tried them all out on my wife.
For one of them I asked the question "How many serial killers does it take to screw in a light bulb?"
My original punchline was just okay.
But upon hearing it, my wife immediately said "I thought you were going to say `TWO: One to change the bulb and one to make a lampshade out of a prostitute."
Such a better joke.
And the thing is, but she just fired that one off without thinking about it.
My wife is funnier than me.

LUCID: a movie I can't wait to see...
Since moving to Brooklyn in 1997 I've met alternative comedians, downtown performance artists, alcoholic poets, content generators, flaky folk-rockers, the list goes on and one. One of the most slippery of all walks of life is anyone who calls himself an "independent filmmaker." I could tell you some awful stories, but that's for another post. Today I'm going to share something that's truly exciting and it was made by a writer-director who can deliver. (Don't take my word for it, just watch this trailer and see for yourself.)
Jeremy Carr's LUCID is like a David Lynch Batman movie, if Batman weren't in it.
Just think of the money you've spent on seeing bad movies over the years. Now here's your chance to put ten bucks towards a great movie that needs some help. The producers are raising funds to finish shooting LUCID, you can join the online fundraiser on Kickstarter. Every pledge helps -- seriously.
Learn more about the project here and see what you'll get by pledging: you can get an on-screen credit, a copy of Jeremy's short film ICE CREAM ANTS (featuring me as The Drunkard -- pictured above, this is one of my favorite roles), and a few people will get this cool T-shirt:
If you're crazy about movies, help this one get made. You won't regret it.

Puppet Rodeo
My new Comedy Central/Atom web-pilot is up. PUPPET RODEO is the story of brave, misunderstood puppets who risk their lives riding dogs. Competitively. We shot this in November, but it's just going online now to cash-in on the popularity of Rodeo Season (no joke!)
Puppet Rodeo
It was a challenging shoot, since dogs don't take direction. But I got to work with some awesome animals -- and some very talented humans, including DP Jeremy Carr, Shooter Ryan Fidrick, Voice-Actors Mark Douglas and Karen Sneider, and Eric Hendricks who served as editor, co-producer and puppeteer. And the dudes at Charged who made the puppets and sets.
Ryan, Eric and Jeremy also worked on OLD PEOPLE NEWS.
Old People News
OLD PEOPLE NEWS was supposed to become a web-series, but then the economy tanked. Too bad, I loved writing for those characters and continue to come up with jokes for them.
