This Friday - come to the Banned Book Party

I became a fan of Mike Edison after reading his wild memoir I HAVE FUN EVERYWHERE I GO: Savage Tales of Pot, Porn, Punk Rock, Pro Wrestling, Talking Apes, Evil Bosses, Dirty Blues, American Heroes and the Most Notorious Magazines in the World.

You can imagine how honored I feel to be included in Mike's BANNED BOOK PARTY (which takes place this Friday night.)  I'll be talking about an especially dopey bout of pop culture hysteria, I'll do a short slideshow, read from a "controversial" novel and screen one of my all-time favorite film clips.

Details are below, don't miss this mad monstrous party.

The line-up includes Mike Albo, Judy McGuire, Rusty Ward and the Interstellar Rendezvous Band.

Author and provocateur Mike Edison hosts the wildest edition yet of his annual party celebrating “Banned Book Week,” joined by the Interstellar Rendezvous Band. Twirling a beatnik’s brew of outer-space bop and dirty blues, the all-star band features drummers Bob Bert (Sonic Youth), Dee Pop (Bush Tetras, Gun Club), and keyboard ace Joe McGinty (The Loser’s Lounge), along with Edison on his patented set-for-stun Theremin.
Featuring special guests: Mike AlboKevin MaherJudy McGuire
Edison performs his pragmatic and hilarious piece “How to Write a Porn Novel,” and a selection from his latest outrage, the X-rated political satire, Bye Bye, Miss American Pie, which he hopes one day will be banned.
As always, the show ends with the legendary “Name That Banned Book Contest.”
Come on out and see how well you know your banned and censored classics! Count on prizes, surprises and a headful of fun.
